Love is in the air...among other things!

Well yesterday certainly proved fruitful in my search for critters. The weather was warm, sunny, and absolutely fabulous.
These skippers (I believe they're skippers of some sort) were taking advantage of the fantastic day.

Saw the first dragonfly of the year as well! HURRAY!!! I wasn't able to get close enough for a proper id of this fellow, but I did manage a shot from a distance.

Some more baby mantids made thier way out yesterday. These wee babies have already dried out and look much different, more like the adults, than the newly emerged mantids of the other day.

Sherbert the cat came along to help 'guard' the camera equipment from any ferocious bugs...he's scared of pretty much everything else.
All manner of butterflies and bees were out pollenating yesterday. The apple blossoms were covered!

To wrap the day up, I took a short walk and came across this fellow soaking up the last rays of sun. It's an eastern fence lizard, a juvenille male or an adult female, I'm not completely sure.

I enjoyed your pictures today. Am still fascinated with those mantids. Wish I could find some here. I'm sure we are behind you in NC, PA is much colder. Love Sherbert and the bee in the apple blossom was great too!
