Parking Lot Gulls
Published by Christy under on 4:46 PM
Always a familiar sight in the winter months, ring-billed gulls in the parking lots of supermarkets and fast food joints can be just as interesting to observe as their woodland cousins.
As I was leaving the good ol' WalMart parking lot today I saw a flock of ring-bills
enjoying the afternoon sun and I'm sure the warm pavement.
Here's a shot of an adult and a juvenile with it's 1st winter plumage (foreground bird). Notice how it has more brown and white rather than simple grey and white feathers.
