I went out into the back pasture today, sounds remote but it's really not, and was able to get several good shots of the 1st dragonflies of the year. There were at least 3 different types, if not 4 and it was definitely exciting. At one point I was surrounded by a ton of baskettails landing in the last vestiges of sun for the day, trying to warm up for the trip home.

I identified what I believe to be 2 brown or twin-spotted spiketails, the latter being less common. Several baskettails, both common and stripe-winged were flying about with a couple of common whitetails.

The weather was just right, highs around 80F, and a bit of a breeze. I hope tomorrow will bring a nice turnout, though the temps are expected to fall a decent amount overnight.
