Out In The Pasture

I decided to stake myself out in the pasture late yesterday afternoon to visit with my bluebird friends and maybe a sparrow or two. Well the sparrows were elusive as always, but it didn't take long before Mr. and Mrs. Blue showed up.

The bluebirds that hang out in the yard aren't this 'outgoing'. I dunno what it is with these two, but they always seem to make themselves known when I come out with my camera. In fact, as I was photographing the male, the little female decided that she wasn't getting enough attention and made her way closer to my spot.

I caught the male in the middle of his meal.

"Yeah, I know I look good."

One of the resident mockingbirds was delightfully announcing his presence in the ivy when I came back from the field. One of these days I'm going to record him. It's amazing how many bird songs they have stored up in that little brain. I've even ran to my window one morning because it sounded like a red tail hawk was sitting just outside screeching. NOT- it was a mockingbird. :)

I was able to get a few pretty nice shots of a male cardinal yesterday as well. Cardinals seem to elude me more than any other song bird. But I'm happy that I at least have these shots.

Yes, spring is here and I am OH SO GLAD! This is what my yard is covered in right now: purple clover flowers. Yeah, I know it needs to be mowed, but this is so pretty.

Have a blessed Easter!

It makes such a difference to be able to go out in the field instead of having to shoot through the window. You got one of the finest female bluebird poses I've ever seen and the lighting on you male cardinals is wonderful....love all the different poses.
Your springtime shots are wonderful. I love the bluebirds and the cardinal is so pretty. We woke up to lots of snow this morning, so I won't be seeing pictures like that here for awhile. Nice shots!
Oh my...what a great series!!! Enjoyed all your birds...especially your Bluebirds!
