New Arrival

A Ruby Crowned Kinglet showed up in the snow yesterday along with the warblers. It was a nice little treat to see another new bird, I must say! :)

If you look closely you'll be able to see a wee bit of red under the olive feathers on his head. Every now and then the male ruby crowned kinglet will ruffle those feathers to reveal the red 'crown' feathers underneath. Hence the name!

I was also treated with a couple more pine warblers. :)

Christy your Kinglet is just wonderful and he kind of resembles out little wrens...I'll have to check out the size on this one. I've still got the same ole' birds coming everyday and haven't seen anything new for quite a while.

I checked and the Kinglet and Wren are about the same size...four inches...and share many of the same characteristics, the main difference being color. Your bird is much purdier than mine!
