Goodbye, old friend...

Sadly today I had to put my first hen that I ever raised down due to some accidental injuries. Chicken or not, she will be missed. I thank God that I had the opportunity to learn so much about Him and myself via this little lump of feathers. I'll miss her a lot, but I know everything happens for a reason and so I feel as if this is a new beginning for me. I'm not really sure how animals fit into eternity, but I pray as C.S. Lewis writes that if I should be in Heaven one day and look over my shoulder for an old beloved pet that brought me great joy on this earth- they'll be there. I don't live for the day that I will be able to see my animals again, but should heaven hold that joy for me I'll gladly accept it with gusto.
